Changing Lives for 30 Years (Georgia)

Updated: Sep 8, 2020

A young man visited our agency in January of 2020. Over the last 30 years, Georgia Parent Support Network has been fortunate to have many programs serving youth and advocating for families. This young man was in one of our programs (CHAMPS) 12 years ago.

We did some catching up and he shared the good news that his mother had graduated from college and was doing well. He also talked about his life's journey for the last twelve years and shared more good news – that he had earned his bachelor’s degree in business and is employed as an insurance broker, which he loves; and that he got married and is very happy. His wife also graduated with her master’s degree.

He said that the reason he stopped by to see us was to share with me how our staff had made this difference for his family and to ask my thoughts on future directions for his life. We talked of preparing for the future, we talked of their children yet to be born, owning vs. renting, a master’s degree vs. certification in his field of work, and other topics.

It was a great way to start the new year and perhaps he will consider becoming a member of our board so that he too, can effect change in someone’s life. It feels so good to know that years later, your work is valued and still helping people.
