State Organizations Benefits

Chapter Requirements: 

  • Must be a parent/family organization led by a Board or leadership structure comprised, at minimum, of 51% parents/caregivers with lived experience of raising (having primary caregiving responsibility for) a child with emotional, mental and/or behavioral health challenges 

  • Endorse and promote the purposes of the National Federation of Families for Children’s Mental Health, Inc. as stated in the Mission Statement and the Philosophy Statement of the National Federation

  • Affirm that the organization is parent-directed and exists to address attention to the needs of children and youth with emotional, behavioral or mental health needs and their families

  • Pay annual dues to the Federation

  • Publicize and participate in National Federation events, conferences, meetings and programs, to the extent possible

  • Promote and encourage individuals, families, and organizations to join the National Federation

  • Coordinate and collaborate with other local and state chapters

  • Demonstrate the capacity to link and collaborate with local chapters of the National Federation as well as individuals, youths, and family members throughout the state that they represent

General Benefits

  • Your organization listed, including contact email, website and/or social media, as an affiliate on our website

  • Selected contact(s) from your organization added to our e-newsletter and other communication distribution lists

  • Approved to use Federation of Families for Children’s Mental Health in your name and are entitled to full membership privileges

Policy & Advocacy Benefits

  • Access to news alerts on continued policy issues impacting children's mental health

  • Advocacy updates on the work the National Federation has done on Capitol Hill and other national mental health coalitions (i.e. SAMHSA, funding of statewide family networks, school-based mental health, and the mental health parity bills)

Event Benefits

  • A free exhibitor table at the annual conference

  • Support with contacting legislators or planning a Capitol Hill day in your state

  • Support with participating in National Children's Mental Health Awareness Week each year
