Each Governor serves as one of the Certification Governors responsible for the development, implementation and management of the policies and procedures of the Certification Commission for Family Support (Certification Commission). The Certification Commission is the independent credentialing body of the National Federation of Families for Children’s Mental Health (National Federation). The Certification Commission ensures the protection of the public through establishment of eligibility for obtaining certification, the development and administration of the certification exams and the establishment and management of the examination, the recertification process, and the enforcement of the standards of practice.
Governors have supervision, control and direction of the affairs of the Certification Commission, its committees, and publications:
The Certification Commission is comprised of a minimum of three (3) and maximum of nine (9) Governors, a majority of whom have parented or been a child/youth/emerging adult experiencing emotional, developmental, behavioral, substance use, or mental health concerns.
Subject Matter Experts are specialized stakeholders who, through a formal process, advise the Certification Commission for Family Support on matters such as: eligibility for certification or recertification; test item development, new certifications, new products or services.
