Kristin Melton, MS, LCPC, Board Member

Kristin Melton is a dedicated wife, mother, and community member who hold a Master's Degree in Educational Psychology from Southern Illinois University, Carbondale. She has practiced as a clinical psychotherapist for the past twelve years and also has experience as a middle school English teacher and school counselor. Currently, Kristin is the Social Marketing Coordinator for Project Connect, a system of care for children's mental health based out of Egyptian Health Department in Southeastern Illinois. In addition, she also recently became a certified trainer for the Olweus Bullying Prevention Program and enjoys helping schools become "bully-free."
Mental health advocacy is a passion for Kristin and she actively promotes reducing stigma so that more families receive support and treatment for their mental health needs. She believes that no family should think they are excluded from mental health challenges, including her own family, because mental health concerns affect everyone regardless of race, religion, culture, economic status, or educational background. As a therapist and a mother, Kristin shares the message that being diagnosed with a disorder is not a result of bad parenting or something that should be shameful. Being fully aware of your mental health strengths, limitations, and daily coping strategies empowers your abilities to be the best you possible
