Position Description
Position Title: Project/Logistics Manager
Status: Exempt, Full Time
Location: Rockville, MD
Reports to: Executive Director
 
The National Federation of Families for Children’s Mental Health is a national family-run organization linking more than 120 chapters and state organizations focused on the issues of children and youth with emotional, behavioral, or mental health needs and their families. Because the National Federation of Families is a dynamic and expanding organization, this role requires someone who is flexible and a true team player, pitching in to own and manage projects that are time sensitive and critical. The responsibilities for this position will evolve over time as the strategic priorities for the organization change and funding opportunities arise.
 
The Project and Logistics Manager will manage and execute on a wide variety of projects. In addition he/she will plan and implement fundraising events. This position will be responsible for ensuring the National Federation of Families’ Annual Conference is a successful event and to coordinate the events involved in the Annual National Children’s Mental Health Awareness Week initiative. The Project and Logistics Manager is also responsible for coordinating travel logistics for large and small events. This person will work closely with teammates to provide support, collaboration, and strategic vision. Given the diversity across tasks, the Project and Logistics Manager will be expected to be versatile and learn and act on new information efficiently, while maintaining a strong attention to detail.
 
The Project and Logistics Manager will report to the Executive Director.
 
Job Functions

  • Direct and manage project development from beginning to end
  • Develop project plan and track project milestones and deliverables
  • Effectively communicate project plans to team members and stakeholders in a timely and clear fashion
  • Work within project budget, provide budget updates and recommend budget changes when necessary
  • Oversee quality control for project
  • Plan the annual conference including all hotel and travel logistics, program and marketing aspects of the conference
  • Search and negotiate reasonable hotel and travel prices
  • Create, monitor, and maintain systems that enhance organizational efficiency
  • Coordinate activities for Annual National Children’s Mental Health Awareness Week
  • Recruit and train volunteers to assist with annual conference and other project as needed
  • Assess resource needs and communicate needs to senior management
  • Assist with fundraising (generating ideas and implementation) Support other projects and task as assigned

Qualifications

  • Master degree in Business Management/Administration with specialized skills in logistics and conference planning. If no degree, then a minimum of five years of project management and logistics management experience in the non-profit sector.
  • Experience in large and small events planning
  • Non-profit fundraising experience
  • Must be able to communicate clearly and persuasively (both written and oral).
  • Must display leadership, self-confidence, motivation, decisiveness, flexibility, sound business judgment, and determination.
  • Have strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Have excellent skills in facilitation, problem-solving, negotiation, and management.
  • Must possess strong computer skills in the use of all Microsoft Office products.
